Julius Jacobsen was an active trombonist and composer in Denmark and Sweden, where he was a soloist with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic. His 24 Preludes have been rarely heard or recorded, but through the talents of S.F. Opera principal tubist Zachariah Spellman and international piano soloist Karen Hutchinson the expressive and melodic potential of an often underestimated instrument can be appreciated at last.
